Shadow Life: A Dialogue & Documentary Screening
About Our Young People Without Homes in Long Beach
The Long Beach Area Coalition for the Homeless and Community Action Network are sponsoring a community dialogue to discuss issues surrounding young people without homes on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm in the Honda Theater at the Aquarium of the Pacific. The purpose of this dialogue is to:
- Provide our young people without homes an opportunity to share their experiences
- Increase understanding and improve relationships among our young people without homes and the community
- Explore specific solutions to improve the conditions surrounding our young people without homes.
- Provide immediate resources and support for young people without stable housing
The dialogue will be moderated by Rev. Sunshine Daye, Senior Program Specialist, with The California Conference for Equality and Justice. The program will include a multi-media presentation, panel discussion including young people experiencing homelessness, service providers and roundtable discussion.
Refreshments will be provided to participants.
The dialogue is organized by The Homeless Dialogue Collaborative, a group of entities which include the Long Beach Area Coalition for the Homeless, the Long Beach Community Action Network, the Downtown Long Beach Associates, the California Conference for Equality and Justice, Mental Health Association, Transitional Age Youth, Children Today, Food Finders, City personnel, and private citizens. Their purpose is to foster understanding of issues surrounding homelessness and promote change that will improve the quality of life for all the residents of Long Beach.
