Getting Around Downtown Long Beach

Downtown Long Beach’s central location and easy access to both the 710 and 405 freeways put visitors less than an hour away from all of the major Southern California attractions. If heading north on the 405, exit the 22 freeway/7th Street exit.  Take 7th Street to Long Beach Boulevard and turn left. If heading south on the 405, take the 710 freeway south.  Exit Downtown/Broadway exit.

Long Beach Transit

Long Beach Transit was formed in 1963 and currently serves over 27 million passengers with regular bus service, with complete coverage of Long Beach, Lakewood, and Signal Hill, and the Passport, which serves all of Downtown, the Queen Mary, CSULB and Los Altos Market Center.

    • AquaLink
      The 68-foot catamaran comfortably ferries up to 75 passengers to the most popular attractions in Long Beach Harbor and on down to Alamitos Bay Landing. Boarding is available near the Aquarium of the Pacific and at the Queen Mary. Averaging approximately 44,800 riders a year, the Aqua Bus continues to increase ridership.
    • Passport
      A complimentary mini-bus transports passengers to and from the Downtown’s major attractions and business center, such as the Queen Mary, Shoreline Village, the Convention Center and East Village Arts District. The Passport served over 2,575,000 throughout the entire route during the FY 2007.
    • WebWatch Real-Time Information
      Long Beach Transit is the first transit system in Southern California and third in the nation to provide WebWatch real-time information to its customers. Customers can track buses in real-time to see when buses will arrive at their next stops on Long Beach Transit’s website, www.lbtransit.com.

Bikestation

Built in 1996, Bikestation Long Beach is the first facility of its kind in the U.S. Modeled after European and Japanese examples, this facility offers the public indoor bicycle parking with onsite attendants, professional repair services, a bike shop, bicycle education, and other related services to make every cyclist's life easier.

Located next to the First Street Transit Mall, an urban corridor for light rail, buses, and pedestrians, Bikestation Long Beach is the City of Long Beach's public cycling center.  With upgrades in 2005, cyclists now have access to secure, indoor bicycle parking 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Visit Bikestation Long Beach and learn the many way in which they can help with your cycling needs.

Long Beach Airport

True to its history, Long Beach Airport is one of the world's busiest general aviation airports and provides a degree of ground and air transportation convenience that is unparalleled in Southern California.

Known as the region's "Easy In, Easy Out" airport, Long Beach Airport hosts Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, America West Airlines and JetBlue Airways. These airlines offer direct flights throughout the United States with easy domestic and international connections. The airport also offers the lowest - cost parking in the region.

MTA Blue Line

Los Angeles' first light rail transit system, it provides daily service to and from Downtown Long Beach and Downtown Los Angeles in just under an hour. A $3 day pass will provide riders with unlimited travel all day on the Metro Rail, Metro Rapid, Metro Liner and Metro Local service.
